Obstacles are all around us. Tangible, real barriers that stand like epic bulwarks and threatens our resolves and dreams. Keeping stride with the recent global changes, the theme of the 2012 Bangamela is to break free of all such petty divides. Break the barriers

We dedicate our inauguration program to this indefatigable human spirit. In the spirit of Arjun and Eklavya, Prometheus and Hercules, Martin Luther King, Nelson Mandela, Mother Teresa and Gandhiji, there are thousands amongst us today who are icons working tirelessly all over the world to break beyond the stringent defined boundaries of political, social, cultural, religious and ethnic divides.

Our musical odyssey celebrates their journey and hails to their destination.

A fitting panorama interwoven delicately with music, literary pieces, dance numbers and recitation the program follows a metaphorical storyline building on a rich melange of cultural motifs and draws on the work of eminent literary figures such as Tagore, Nazrul Islam, Mukunda Das and Samsul Haque. The effect is an audio visual delight of the senses that is enriched by renowned choreographer such as Somnath Dutta of Calcutta Choir. Rich with imagery and potent with its vocal, dramatic and passionate elements the stage will be lit ablaze with a fusion of contemporary and traditional music and dance numbers integrated to the theme and script that sets the tone of the event a path to breaking the barriers outside and within!
